Dana, aged 25, is the middle child of three girls from a Middle-Class family in Midwestern America. Feeling stuck in the middle she successfully applies for a work permit scheme and decides to move to a small town in England, where she meets Samuel, Alex, Kimberly and Tony. Dana enjoys meeting new people, and adapting to her new surroundings but unfortunately continues to find herself in the middle of awkward situations.
"I have to... walk out of the room now."
Samuel, aged 21, is an only child who has had to deal with adversity on all sides since coming out at the age of fourteen. He has a tendency to hide behind humour and purposefully develops awkward situations to amuse himself. Samuel will only let his guard down when around those he trusts allowing his true nature to show. He is an admirer of postmodernism and freelances as a graphic designer when the rent is due.
Alex, aged 21, the black sheep of twin boys, has just graduated from uni and works part time at a retail shop. He has been dating Kimmie for a few years and is very comfortable (too comfortable) within his current relationships. Alex may be hesitant to build new friendships but once someone is "in" it is for life. He is obsessed with Kaiju eiga, gaming, food and enjoys being in his own little nerd-a-torium type of world.
"Do we have any ketchup?"
Kimberly, aged 18, is helping raise her three younger siblings and while earning her BA in Fashion Design at Uni, when she is not spending time with her boyfriend. She met Alex through Samuel during her first year of college, three years on and she may not always understand him but they support and love one another. Kimberly has always enjoyed hanging around a slightly older crowd as it makes her feel more sophisticated and independent.
"Dance with me!"
Tony, aged 27, is the youngest of four and is enjoying living alone for the first time. He is a former sound engineer who is passionate about trying to start a new career in the music industry as a producer. Tony loves meeting new people, making new friends but is very career focused. After years of hand-me-downs he has learned how to live a champagne lifestyle on a beer budget.
"You are the first person I've had to agree with me on this."
